Behind the Scenes

Posted by punky on Tuesday June 30, 2009 at 12:53 pm | Random |

I took some behind the scenes photos of the retro fitness shoot I styled for Shoestring Magazine last night. It’s really amazing how many weeks of planning and people it takes to create that perfect photo that gets used in the article.  I’ll let you know when Shoestring is ready to unveil the issue.

Florida or Bust

Posted by punky on Friday June 26, 2009 at 12:26 pm | Accessorized |

For years I have heard that Florida has the best vintage, yet every time I travel there I return empty handed. I thought it was just me, but had mentioned to me that she had the same experience. If any of you have some secret Florida vintage shopping  locations that us nonresidents are not aware of please spill it.

With exception to a few antique shops on Dearborn in  Olde Englewood and this amazing vintage jewelry booth inside the Dome Flea Market. Shopping was a bust.

I did manage to pick up this ring as a little vacation souvenir:

With all the Haberdash opening, new car purchasing, hamster funerals, vacationing and photo shoot styling going on around here, I completely forgot about this event. I hope you don’t already have plans for Saturday.

The Films

Posted by punky on Thursday June 25, 2009 at 10:42 am | Punky Loves |

I saw these guys a few months back while they were on tour with Butch Walker. They were adorable, my friends and I planned to kidnap them and keep them in our pockets forever. A few weeks later Kyle gave me there cd and I cant stop listening to them. Check them out here.

Flower Power

Posted by punky on Wednesday June 24, 2009 at 1:25 pm | Outfitted |

I’m still madly in love with flower prints. Last year it was tiny flower prints, this year the bigger the better. Some 80’s puff sleeves never hurt anyone either.

Wearing: Dress $4 at Alexis Grace, Hair clip and belt both from Forever21

Dive Right In

Posted by punky on Friday June 12, 2009 at 1:34 pm | Haberdash, Worcester |

The Haberdash Grand Opening at The Dive last night was a success. Despite torrential down pours, the turnout was great. After all the work we did I  just couldn’t wait any longer for people to see the shop. I got some really great feedback, everyone loved the shop and even the guys said it was pretty rad and although they wished I carried more men’s stuff (which I work on).  The Jewelry and bags sold really well I’ll have to do some serious restocking before the next event. Thank you for your support Worcester!

Logo Bags

Posted by punky on Monday June 8, 2009 at 11:02 am | Haberdash |

Thanks to my friend Derek over at Fire Bad. On Friday I had the opportunity to silk screen the Haberdash logo on some reusable shopping bags. Ok, I didn’t really do much except drink coffee, giggle with Nicole, take photos and pretend to be quality control, but still.  There are only 50 of them and I decided to just give them to friends and family as thank you gifts for listening to me blab about this project for months. But, maybe we will give a few away on Twitter. What do you think, do you love them?

If you are in Massachusetts and need anything silk screened check out The Silk Screen Warehouse on 50 Suffolk St. Worcester.

Canal Love

Posted by punky on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 9:58 am | Worcester |

The Canal District Swap went swimmingly. With over 150 attendees and about 20 bags of clothes collected for charity. The swappers took advantage of the great deals the local businesses were offering. I think everyone was pretty pleased with the event. I have to thank Nostalgia Exchange, Worcester Magazine and Derek Ring for helping me host such a lovely day.  Also, my friends that showed up early to help sort though hundreds of bags of clothing. I’m going to make it up to you all one ice cream at a time.

See all the Photos.

Hot off the press

Posted by punky on Thursday May 28, 2009 at 10:47 am | Worcester |

Worcester Magazine did a feature this week on the upcoming Swap and Haberdash. I hope you have a second to check it out. Also, Derek Ring created this rad map that will be handed out to all the swappers to help them navigate the Canal District.

See you all on Saturday!

Brimfield Photos

Posted by punky on Tuesday May 26, 2009 at 11:29 am | I heart vintage, Worcester |

While I was busy shopping for statement jewelry to fill the Haberdash with (like the beautiful piece below). Kyle (the talented designer behind this blog) took some some photos of fun items the Brimfield Flea Market. View the photos here and don’t miss the next market running July 14th-19th 2009.

Good Week For Antiques

Posted by punky on Sunday May 24, 2009 at 6:35 pm | Purchases |

The past two weekends have been really successful for antique shopping. I hit up Brimfield last weekend and yesterday Kate and I spent hours at The Cider Mill and Brickyard Antiques. With all the clothes going into Haberdash I now have a empty room in my house. Kyle is trying to take it over and turn it in to “Man Town”. I’m thinking more along the lines of sewing room/craft space. Maybe we can just turn it into a playroom for Emma and Sheldon. Anyway, here are my two most recent purchases.

Frock & Haberdash

Posted by punky on Wednesday May 20, 2009 at 10:36 pm | Punky Poll |

Nicolé and I have decided to celebrate our new ventures by collaborating on a project and offering up the final results to one lucky reader of Punkystyle.com. We went through the vintage items in Haberdash and chose a item made out of fabric that we thought will make a lovely clutch. Nicolé will be sharing some of the steps along the way, and then when the piece is ready to be revealed we will start the giveaway.

A visit from Frock

Posted by punky on Tuesday May 19, 2009 at 8:53 pm | Punky Loves |

At a clothing swap, a few months ago I was introduced to Nicolé the creator of Frock Handbags. She had recently started her own Eco conscious business (which is instant cool in my book). I knew she was someone I could learn things from and made sure to keep in touch. When I learned she was launching a men’s line I was intrigued, so I invited her to over for a sneak peek at Haberdash and she brought along some products from her line as I had hoped. All Frock bags are made in Massachusetts from vintage and sustainable materials. Take a look at all this loveliness:

After a few hours of over excited talk about the new fashion ventures in our lives, we decided we want to share what we do with the girls that share the same passion for Eco friendly and vintage fashions. Tomorrow’s post will explain just how we plan to do that.

Goodnight ladies!

New Logo

Posted by punky on Sunday May 10, 2009 at 9:05 pm | Haberdash |

Project Haberdash is about 90% complete. Kyle designed me some sweet logos and I ordered custom stamps from Bear Rubber Stamps. This week I have to finish up the interior decor projects and get the items priced, and then well be ready to roll!

So glam

Posted by punky on Thursday May 7, 2009 at 12:25 pm | Outfitted |

Since I parked a vintage caravan in my outfit portrait location, I’ll have to share some old photos with you. I picked up this vintage coat at the Boston clothing swap. It’s stunning in person, not a sequin out of place. Every time I wear it little old ladies want to touch it.
