Birds of a Feather

Posted by punky on Thursday January 31, 2008 at 5:29 pm | Accessorized |

I’ve been obsessing over feathers lately, I bought a bag of them off ebay in hopes of making my own headbands. When I realized how much work it would take I bought some off Etsy instead.

I found some similar to the ones I bought if you were also looking, here, here and here.

I believe my friend Heather has some in her Cartfly Store as well.

On the hunt

I have been looking to replace my leather strappy platforms that my lovely dog chewed (dogs always eat your favorites). I had that pair for ten years. I believe that justifies spending the money on a good pair. But which pair? I’m not use to spending more then $20 for shoes. Please help me decide…

Fashion Phone

Posted by punky on Wednesday January 30, 2008 at 1:02 pm | Window Shopping |

Last week I was sent a press release for The Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism (my fellow fashionistas, designers and gadget nuts will be excited about this.)

The Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism was made in collaboration with Frédérique Daubal (the french designer.) The New Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism is said to fuse style with the latest technology by incorporating the geometric pattern design into the signature Nokia Prism Collection. It features diamond-cut patterns with a crystal center key and a bunch of accessories made specifically for it.

Honestly I’ve never seen this phone in person, the only info I have is from the press release. But if I do receive it, I promise to promptly review it for you, because the price tag of this phone is a tad steep…$544, ah the sweet price of glamor and individuality.

Features:
* 1GB Internal memory
* 3G Connectivity
* 2 Megapixel camera
* Distinctive wallpapers
* 49 colors available for the keymat
* Matching headset
* Music Player

Oh My Gosh Antiques

Posted by punky on Monday January 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm | Must See Stores |

On Friday afternoon Tom Tom, Emma and I took a ride to Sterling Massachusetts to visit my current favorite antique store. “Oh my gosh antiques” which is in the Old Cider Mill. The Mill is a huge barn..with tons of vendors, selling all kinds of antiques and collectibles. Seriously, If you collect it, they have it. I have spent hours in this place digging through all the vintage treasures. And the prices are very reasonable, I can just about pack my car for $100. This place is well worth the drive (TomTom says its 17 miles and 26 min from Worcester if you take the back roads.)

This is what I picked up for the house:

Rehashing

h_rehash.png

So far this year I’m doing really well with my “consume less” resolution, I’ve only purchased four things that were not either vintage or handmade (2 UO tee’s, a pair of $10 boots at TJMaxx and a Kate Nash cd.)
And today while I was browsing Stumbleupon I happened to stumble upon (pun intended) a website called Rehash.
Rehash is a online community that has come up with a environmentally-conscious way to get rid of clothes you don’t wear in exchange for clothes you will wear. You can trade your clothing with others who are seeking a new wardrobe and in exchange revamp your closet. This is a super way to keep me on track with my new years resolutions.

I just joined today so I don’t have any items up yet, but check back or add me as a friend…here to see what goodies I have to swap.

Dita von Teese for Wonderbra

Posted by punky on Wednesday January 23, 2008 at 4:42 pm | Random |

Is it me, or is this chick every where lately? Dita von Teese has signed on to become the new face of Wonderbra. She is also collaborating with Victoria’s Secret to create a limited edition collection called, “Wonderbra by Dita Von Teese.”

The plan is to make “wearable lingerie that will add a touch of glamor to people’s lives.” Von Teese will be designing a collection based on 1940s styles and vintage underwear designs. Expect to see the new collection in France and the UK by September. I haven’t heard when or if it will be available in the USA.

I adore Sarah’s style so much. I’m delighted to see her all over the inter web, She is my friend on Style Mob, Flickr, and today I came across her MySpace. She is definitely deserving of a MySpace Style post.

I’ve been tagged!

Posted by punky on Friday January 18, 2008 at 10:12 am | Random |

Thank you so much to my fellow blogger Lauren for nominating me for the Thinking Blogger Award.

If you get tagged you have to write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think and then you have to put a link to this post so people can find out where it all started. Finally, just in case you want (optional), you can display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote in one of your sidebars.

The 5 blogs I have tagged are all Worcester area bloggers…

I Heart Peanut Butter
My 5 Senses

Worm Town Taxi

What’s the story behind the name of your blog and your nickname?
Well, Punky has been my nickname for as long as I can remember and the blog was intended to be a style blog, So “punky Style” only seemed appropriate.

Why did you started blogging in the first place?

My friend was designing some websites and offered to design me a fashion site. I was really hesitant at first because I am a horrible writer, but then I figured what the heck, at least my friends will read it.

What has been your best blogging experience? What about the worst?
The best was meeting all the other fashion bloggers. Fashion Blogging is like a secret sisterhood of sorts, The whole community is really supportive and kind and I really cant think of any negatives (besides me spending way to much time on my laptop.)

What do you think will happen to your blog in 2008?
I’m planning on growing my Online Vintage Store, So check back often.

Be home soon…
