Stylish Boston

Posted by punky on Sunday November 29, 2009 at 7:36 pm | New England, Street Style |

It’s no secret that Boston gets a bad rap for fashion…We’ve all heard the jokes about our Uggs and our Northface jackets (in fact I think I made some of  those jokes…oops). Well the times are changing, my two new favorite style bloggers are from The Hub and making quite the name for themselves.

Look out fashion world…Boston is killing it!

If you are looking to meet some more fashionable bloggers you should attend out Blogger Meet up.

Day Tripper

Posted by punky on Sunday November 29, 2009 at 3:48 pm | Outfitted |

Hope you all had lovely a holiday!  Mine was filled with good friends and lots of family time,  I couldn’t have have asked for anything more. Thanksgiving always turns me in to a big sappy love bug. When I starting thinking about the things I have to be thankful for and realize the list never ends.  I get a little overwhelmed. I have had a pretty wonderful year and I’m really glad I had so many truly awesome people to share it with.

Now that sap-fest 2009 is over…I took Kyle to NYC on Saturday. He had never been, so we did all the touristy type stuff. Which I secretly enjoy as much as shopping….Just don’t tell the other fashion bloggers. It was nice to show him all the things I love about the big apple and I think he now understands why I never want to leave there.

Wearing: Chanel sunglasses, Rick Owens jacket, Haberdash ruffel blouse, DIY jeans, Vintage Boots, Sisley Bag and a fancy new hair color, thanks to Kate.

Punky loves Owens

It’s official, I’m in love with my new Rick Owens Asymmetric  Jacket. It’s kinda like the when you meet someone for the first time and you know they will be a huge part of your life. When I tried it on I knew this jacket was going to be a huge part of my wardrobe. I just hope its not afraid of commitment.

Wearing: Rick Owens Jacket, from The Closet Boston, Necklace from Lilian Asterfield, Dress: Forever 21, Boots: Vintage, Bag: Haberdash Vintage

And in more important news, Penny had surgery this week and is recovering adorably:

Traditions

Posted by punky on Friday November 20, 2009 at 1:55 pm | Window Shopping |

I have this silly little tradition, I think it stemmed from buying school clothes as a kid. But now as a adult when every time I get a new job I like to buy myself a “new job gift”. In 2003 when I started credit managing  I bought the original Lamb bag for Lesportsac. Then in 2005 when I got a bartending gig at the rock club I loved I bought myself those obnoxious logo Chanel sunglasses. But anywho, the other day while I was on Newbury street (hint hint) for some top secret Blogger Meet Up business, I popped in to The Closet for a visit. While shopping I got a email from Kyle telling me HaberdashVintage.com was ready. Which technically meant I have a new job and need a new job gift. So I left The Closet in my new Rick Owens sweater coat.

Now that I blabbed your ear off…the reason for this post is to show you this: Asymmetrical Hoodie from Blackmarketbaby. It’s very similar to the Rick Owens coat I bought, but its from a indie designer in Montreal. Thanks Jennine for posting about them.

The Haberdash online vintage store is suppose to be ready to launch any day now…In preparation I’ve been testing out some of the faux furs that will be in the store. You know, quality control type stuff…right? OK my living room is filled with vintage coats and I cant help my self.

Salem and Iris Apfel

Posted by punky on Sunday November 15, 2009 at 1:40 pm | Random, Street Style |

On Friday night my girlfriends and I trekked up to Salem to check out Iris Apfel Rare Bird Of Fashion exhibit at the Essex Museum and grab dinner at Rockefeller. It was really inspiring to see someone getting recognized for being original. The collection was amazing and full of all the things I love. Cameras were not allowed but I may have snuck a few shots for you. Rebel.

Down City

Posted by punky on Thursday November 12, 2009 at 2:47 pm | Outfitted |

I spent my entire weekend digging for treasures in a estate sale that my lawyer friend was having. Lots of fun stuff in this house, including old unopened Chanel perfumes. I also finally had the chance to check out the Rock and Roll Flea Market in Downcity. It was a lot smaller then I visioned it being however I did score two rad vintage shirts (one with a wolf and one with a tiger).

I also got a sneak peek at Calico’s Pop up shop. Which will be adorable, I can’t wait to take a trip back to see when its done.

Bad Romance

Did you see the Bad Romance video yet? Lady Gaga is pretty much my new fashion icon. I’m also convinced she is a super hero and part time ninja.

I want your loving
And I want your revenge

Monique Rancourt

Posted by punky on Thursday November 5, 2009 at 6:50 pm | New England, Window Shopping |

On Sunday at the Design Hive I had the pleasure of setting up next  to Monique Rancourt. I was blown away her with work. It was original and tough but still super classy. She mentioned she teaches metal smith classes. But  I’m pretty sure with all the polyester I wear I am banned from it. I am definitely saving my pennies for that bracelet and hoping to bump in to her at the next Design Hive on December 6th.

I fell in love yesterday

Posted by punky on Tuesday November 3, 2009 at 9:54 am | Outfitted, Purchases |

At first I was feeling guilty for selling two pairs of my vintage over the knee boots, so I could afford these new Dolce Vita buckle boots, until I put them on that is.  In my defense, one pair of my vintage boots had no heel, so I always felt like a pirate looking for treasure and the other pair were made of a shiny leather, which was always a little to street walker esque. But I’m pretty sure these boots and I are going to have a long and committed relationship.

Dress up, Artifaktori Style

Posted by punky on Monday November 2, 2009 at 3:12 pm | Must See Stores, New England |

Artifaktori’s Vintage Dress Up event was last night, I had spent the whole day working at the Design Hive, so I was really looking forward to some relaxing girl time. The dress up party was at Upstairs on the Square (which I am now in love with). Artifaktori even dressed the Jazz band that played last night. There was lots of vintage lover mingling, classy drinks and even more classy dancing, perfect end to a busy weekend.
