Flower Power

I’m still madly in love with flower prints. Last year it was tiny flower prints, this year the bigger the better. Some 80’s puff sleeves never hurt anyone either.

I picked up this vintage butterfly shirt at Alexis Grace Consignment today. I wanted to do a quick outfit post with it before I head to Florida. Enjoy the rain New England, I will be thinking of you while sitting on the powder sand of Siesta Key. See you Monday.

Since I parked a vintage caravan in my outfit portrait location, I’ll have to share some old photos with you. I picked up this vintage coat at the Boston clothing swap. It’s stunning in person, not a sequin out of place. Every time I wear it little old ladies want to touch it.

I’m still obsessed with tie dye, I did this nightgown and sweatshirt a few weeks ago because I never wore them, now I wear them all the time.
I think im going a put a few of the circle Scarfs in the Etsy store. Stay tuned.

I just realized I never showed you my scores from the Boston Swap. I’ll start with this cream three quarter sleeve faux fur coat. I never would have gave this coat a second look if it were hanging in a store with price tags on it. It seems I’m willing to take more risks with clothing when I don’t have to open my wallet.

It’s been a while since I’ve done some outfit posts. It will be a lot easier to keep up with now that the snow has melted from my backyard. Yay spring!!

Pictures from last weeks adventure at the abandon drive-in, before they get lost in my Flickr archives never to been seen again.

If you live in New England I’m sure you also dropped whatever you were doing yesterday to go play out side.
I drive by this abandon Drive-in Movie Theater every day on my way to work and I often think about how fun it would be to sneak around the gates and explore. Kyle finally agreed to come with me (I think the train bridge incident left a bad taste in his mouth).

You might remember last year twelve blogger’s doing a project with Modepass and Heimstone called the Traveling Jacket, where we mailed a single jacket around the world and styled and photographed the item ourselves. Well, we had so much fun Modepass is letting us do it again: Eple & Melk Traveling Jacket,
I have a funny story involving this jacket. The week I received it, it rained like crazy, there was one clear day that week and I already had tickets to the Blitzen Trapper show a hour away. I figured we could just find a cool place for a photo shoot along the way. Which we did, but that “cool place” turned out to be forbidden railway’s protected by the homeland security laws…Oops. By the time we convinced the police we were not terrorists, I didn’t have time to change and I had to wear this outfit to dinner and the concert ( FYI: acceptable attire for a Blitzen Trapper show is a dirty ironic tee shirt or plaid button down.)

We spent our Saturday in Plymouth, MA hanging out with family, thrifting and pretending to be tourist. I spent my summers in Plymouth growing up and Kyle has family there. It’s was nice to discover new things to love about a place I already had many fond memories of.
Oh, yeah and in typical sibling rivalry form, I had to get a hamster too, meet Sheldon:

Outfit: jacket and dress from Clothing Swap, H&M leggings, vintage boots, RayBan and Chanel purse.
Kyle and I decided to get out of the city last weekend in search of covered bridges and antique shops. We packed up the dog and headed to Brattleboro Vermont. It was really refreshing to not know anything about the town and get to explore it. The people there were abnormally friendly, I don’t think I’ve ever had so many conversations with strangers.

I was so busy adding bacon to websites and sending my friends 25 random facts about myself on Facebook that I almost forgot about a very important event. This week is three year anniversary of PunkyStyle.com. Happy 3rd blogirthday to us…yay! Also, I finally took a picture of those lace up jeans I bought last month.

Swap clothes make the best clothes. I’ve worn this jacket that I got at the clothing swap, twice this week. I cant believe any gal would give this up, but I’m glad she did. I want to see your swap outfits, send them over to Punkystyle@gmail.com

I learned how to use my sewing machine last week (finally) and have been turning all my vintage dresses in to mini vintage dresses. I have about 20 to hem for the online store…busy busy.

I think I’ve caught that winter hermit bug. All I want to do lately is wear warm cuddly sweaters and relax on my couch in warm cuddly blankets. Please feel free to wake me in April.
Please proceed with caution when leaving me in charge of anything warm and fuzzy. I just realized that I was supposed to sell this coat in the Etsy store for Linnea and I sort of just inherited it.

Recent conversation from the Rock Club I work at:
Carly: Rule #1 in rock ‘n roll is…Project into the microphone
Punky: Yup, and rule #2 is tights are not pants
I say tights are not pants all the time, But seriously what goes better with sequins then latex? My new philosophy is tights can be pants, But only amongst close friends.
I have been getting dressed lately, I promise. But all my outfits look the same. Anyone else suffering from a winter style rut?
When I was asked be a part of the Traveling Heimstone Project I was overwhelmed with excitement. What girl wouldn’t want to have gorgeous designer clothes sent to her door for her to play dress up with? The Jacket making it’s journey around the world was a secret until we received it. We had 3 days to style, shoot and ship the jacket to the next girl. I had picked up a tribal/ethnic print dress at Zara the night before, So naturally I wanted to wear all the new clothes at once. Here is my take on the Heimstone Jacket.
Jacket: Heimstone, Dress: Zara, Belt: Betsy Johnson, Shoes: Go Jane, Purse: Thrifted, Photos/Editing: Kyle & Carly, Location: Union Station
Sally Jane is the last girl to style the jacket, so be sure to check out her blog tomorrow!

Any day now it’s going to be my turn to reveal the Traveling Heimstone, And I wouldn’t want you to miss it.

The Travel Heimstone Project has made it through its first week. Check out the girls outfits here:
