Recycle your bottle caps

Did you know that when bottles are recycled, their caps are often cut off and thrown away, ending up in landfills, oceans, rivers or in the mouths of baby sea animals? Causing the animals to either choke or end up with bellies full of plastic. Linnea just came in my room (im still sick..ugh) with a page from Shape magazine that says:
From March 10th through May 10th, Aveda stores will be accepting any and all of your hard plastic caps (e.g. from bottles of water and soda, laundry detergent, facial cleansers, shampoo, etc.) and using them to make new tops for Aveda’s limited-edition retro Clove Shampoo bottles. Bring in 25 or more caps and you’ll receive a free sample from one of Aveda’s hair or body-care lines.

You can also mail in your caps to:
Aveda Re-Cap Program, ACA Waste Services
40 EADS Street in Babylon, NY 11704

good tip, i’ll try to get my caps out to Aveda this week, plus it won’t hurt to check out some new stuff at the mall :)

that would involve going to Natick and then I walk into Lush and spend more money….I have no will power.

So cute, sometimes you wonder how they can hunt Seal. being from canada though I also realize that it’s a means of survivals for natives and inuits up north. It’s been a way of life for thousands of years and i’m not going to agree that they need to change things up there.

But anyway yo are talking about the stuff people throw in the ocean and lakes, it’s terrible I hate looking down at a river and all I see is floating coke bottles and bags of chips…poor animals.

Aww baby seal! Thanks for the info! I didn’t know that the bottle caps were never recycled - I mean I had a feeling, but I didn’t think it were true. This gives me a great excuse to head over to Aveda hehe.
