Swap talk

Lets talk Swap, Last night I hosted my first clothing swap. I invited everyone to bring a bag of clothes they don’t wear and take home a bag that they will, with the leftovers going to charity. I was really happy with the turn out. Only about half the people that RSVP’d actually attended and we were still pretty much out of room, so that was kind of a good thing. I think for the next swap we will need a bigger location. I had never hosted or been to a swap before, I was totally winging it, originally I had planed to do the sorting myself, but everyone was coming in with multiple bags. We had the tables marked and had everyone sort their own stuff so they could also check out all the other goodies. Then we asked everyone grab a bag and fill it with items they loved (I’ll do a post on my items tomorrow). In the end we had 9 ginormous trash bags filled and ready to donate to the Abby House and even raised some money to benefit American Diabetes Association.

I hope everyone had a good time and got some fabulous clothes. I will definitively plan another swap soon, If you have a location suggestion or an item you like to donate please get in touch with me. I just wanted to thank Tush, Giovanelli Italian Market, Sweet and Neil and Crystal for the generous donations for our raffle.

Punky, I am so sorry that I couldn’t make it. I had to unexpectedly work and there was no getting out of it. I am so glad that you had a good turnout! I will definitely be at the next one. How was your trip to Newport?

  • jennifer says:

i’m glad to see that even though i couldn’t make the trip out to the swap, that something of mine got there - a shirt that didn’t fit that i’d already recycled by giving it to B! :)
