The DIY Confetti System-ish garland that I created just for Orchid Grey’s wedding was featured in the Holiday issue of House of Fifty in Kim Myles column…as in Design Star and TV host Kim Myles…so awesome.

DIY Confetti System Garland

If you have been here before you might have noticed my love for shiny fringe items…maybe here or here. So it’s no surprise I’ve been lusting after the Confetti System garland since I discovered it last year. I must have reblogged and pinned every photo featuring Confetti Systems I came across. Yup…completely in love. So when I was thinking about how to decorate the Haberdash photo booth for Orchid Grey’s wedding, it was the first thing I wanted to custom make for her.

Step by step instructions:

1. Pick out your materials. It can be fabric, paper or flagging tape like I used.
2. Cut your materials into piles of 10-20 strips, any length you want (mine are about 2 feet).
3. If using fabric or thick material cut your piece with slits up the fabric leaving a inch on the top (like on a missing cat poster) Never lost a cat? Example.

4. Twist your strips in the middle they will start to twist around each other and create a loop. up. The secure with a tie, elastic, staple or glue (I used tiny clear hair elastics from Sallys Beauty Supply). If you are using the cat poster method just roll your fabric across the top and secure the same way.

5. Find some string, leftover pieces of fabric or paper to attach you pom pom to your rope. Spread your pom poms out on the rope in the color order you want.
6.Hang your garland.

Over the weekend

Friday night was date night, Adam has been working a lot at the Fire house lately. So by 5pm friday I couldn’t wait to get out of Boston and head home to him and the pups. We went out to a cute little steak house for dinner and stopped to see some friends quickly before heading home to snuggle with puppies.

Wearing: D&G Sunnies (c/o Shades Daddy, Swapped Jacket, Vintage Dress and boots, Marc Jacobs Bag.

Saturday was my friend Thais’s Birthday party, I spent the afternoon doing crafts and eating cupcakes. Then we had a mini slumber party, because we had early plans for Sunday.

Sunday we meet up with Adam, Chris and Julie for pancakes and opening day of Todds Farm. Where we bought up every piece of vintage jewelry for me (no really dont even bother looking, wink wink) and every piece of antique fire fighter equipment for Adam. Penny was so exhausted from her her puppy slumber party, she slept the whole way home. Did you do anything fun this weekend?

DIY Ring Display

When you own a store thats the size of most girls closets, you have to be creative with your displays. I cant even count how many times I changed around the Haberdash jewelry last year. But all the current displays are DIY. This one being the latest, it’s a spool rack that would be used in a sewing room. I loved the Haberdash display so much I had to get one for my personal collection as well.

While shopping on West Broadway in NYC, Jen and I found this cool guy that would let you design your own jewelry and he would make it for you on the street right then and there. Which is pretty rad, I designed a teal and white two finger ring that I love and wear pretty much every day. I loved it so much, when I got home I decided I was going to make them for all my friends.

I’m still obsessed with tie dye, I did this nightgown and sweatshirt a few weeks ago because I never wore them, now I wear them all the time.
